Elder Johnson: ZOOM MTC is over. I don't even know where to start

Updated: Dec 8, 2021

Adam Johnson. Mon, Oct 4, 2021 I don't even know where to start... Alllright. August 2nd...

My whole MTC experience has just been me studying LOTS of Chinese, The Gospel of Jesus Chirst, and doing 6 hours of Class each day. I keep on forgetting that my mission is going to be in Canada, in a whole new world. I keep imagining myself for the next 22 months just me at home taking classes everyday. But don't get me wrong. I have loved every second of my MTC experience! My district consists of 15 Missionaries (including me) 3 Sisters (one of them being my actual Sister,) and 11 Elders. On day 1 when I met my district for the first time I just knew from their bright faces that this was gonna be an awesome district. 9 weeks later it's crazy that I can call them my friends. I only knew em for 2 months and we've built such strong 关系 (relationship) I love my district so much, we've had so many funny and spiritual moments with each other. It's so sad to see all of us part on our unknown journeys, but makes me happy to know that they are all willing to do Heavenly Fathers will and sacrifice their time, families, friends, and choices, just to show their love to Heavenly Father. It's so crazy that I will be departing from everyone in just 2 days.. But hearing the words of our beloved prophet, Russell M. Nelson always gives me spiritual faith and courage. In the most recent General Conference he said: "Those who prepare shall not fear." In General Conference I've noticed 4 important patterns throughout all of the talks. Many speakers talked about the same thing. 1. Those who prepare shall not fear 2. Eternal Perspective 3. Avoid Distractions 4. Keep the commandments, and the 2 greatest commandments The 1st pattern had a total of 3 talks about it. 2nd had 6 talks about it. 3rd had 2. and the 4th had 8 talks about it! My favorite pattern is pattern number 2. Eternal Perspective. Literally it was so amazing hearing multiple speakers talk about the same thing, and when speakers talk about the same thing, you betta be payin cLose attention. They told us that: "The joys of life come mostly not from the circumstances of our life, but from our focus on Christ." Life is a struggle, painful, but also joyful, and peaceful. 2 Nephi 2:11 explains that in order to feel joy there must be an opposition in all things. And in my life, there has been so much. But what the speakers meant when they said to "focus on an eternal perspective" means to focus on what your purpose is in God's plan, what are you aiming for? As long as you go through life's trials and sadness with a heart full of faith and good works, God promises us everything he has will be ours. Brothers and Sisters. Look forward with an eye single to his glory.

Doctrine and Covenants 4:4-7 4 For behold the afield is white already to bharvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in cstore that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul; 5 And afaith, bhope, ccharity and dlove, with an eeye single to the fglory of God, gqualify him for the work. 6 Remember faith, avirtue, knowledge, btemperance, cpatience, dbrotherly ekindness, fgodliness, charity, ghumility, hdiligence. 7 aAsk, and ye shall receive; bknock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen. Canada is just right around the corner, and it's going to take a lot of faith, and a lot of prayers to be strong and brave to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. I'm so grateful to have the fullness of the gospel in my life. Here's some pics from my district, they a bunch of goofs and homies.

Just wanna say again, 我爱我的地区 (I love my district) And I can't wait to meet again in 2 years. From random faces over zoom calls, to close friends that I'm so grateful to be apart of my life 加油! (oNWARD! or, make a GREAT effort!) (famous Chinese sayin) -Johnson 长老 (Elder Johnson)
